Hariss was called up to join LionsXII for the 2012 Malaysia Super League in December 2011. In January 2012, he made his LionsXII debut in a league match against Kelantan. Harun bin Habib Mohamed, a logistics officer, and Nisha binte Mohamed Yusoff, a housewife, were born in Singapore to Malayali Muslim parents. His father serves as his football coach. Since the age of six, he credits his father and uncle for igniting his love in football.

Hariss married his lover Syahirah Mohamad at a function venue beside LionsXII’s home stadium, Jalan Besar Stadium, on March 9, 2014.
