Mahlasela, who was born in Sebokeng, played youth football with the Orlando Pirates but never made the main team. After joining Roses United in 2012, he went on to play on loan with Sivutsa Stars and then Royal Eagles.

  • Kaizer Chiefs

He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Kaizer Chiefs on January 3, 2018.

After returning from injury, he made his Kaizer Chiefs debut on August 7, 2018, as a late substitution in a home loss to Bidvest Wits.

During the 2018–19 season, though, he failed to hold onto a first-team spot for the club, making only 11 appearances.
