“Ronwen is a cherished son and a legend of the club. He has cemented his position in the annals of the club’s history by becoming the player with the longest tenure and the most appearances in the records of the club’s history. When it comes to football, loyalty is hard to come by these days, which is what makes our 18 years with Ronwen so extraordinary,” he told the club’s media department.

“We are really pleased of the fact that we were able to generate a player at the juvenile age of 12, and that we were able to help him achieve his boyhood goals of playing for and captaining both his club and his nation. Ronwen leaves us with trophies in the cabinet and very precious memories, and we wish him the very best of luck in both his personal life and his future career with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The goalkeeper, who was born in Gqebherha and is also the captain of the national team, will join a vast array of talent currently present at The Brazilians, including luminaries such as Dennis Onyango and Kennedy Mweene, who have previously denied Reyaad Pieterse from playing.

Williams was a member of Matsatsantsa for a total of 18 years, during which time he received three Nedbank Cup medals, two MTN8 Cup medals, and one Telkom Knockout medal for his performance as the club’s number one goalkeeper.
