In addition to previously working as a ball boy for the club, Ndlovu joined the Maritzburg United development program after graduating from the now-defunct Umgungundlovu Academy of Sport in Pietermaritzburg.

He thrived throughout his time at the club’s academy, when he competed in the SAB League and acquired the nickname Mbesuma, which is a nod to former PSL top scorer Collins Mbesuma, who was also a member of the academy.

Roger De Sa promoted him to the senior team in 2016, joining Mlondi Dlamini and Tso Motjatji in the team’s inaugural season.

It was on October 22, 2016, that he made his first appearance for the club, coming on as a replacement for Denis Weidlich in the club’s Nedbank Cup loss to Kaizer Chiefs following a penalty shootout victory. His league debut came on December 20th, in a 1–1 tie with Bidvest Wits, and he went on to make a total of 18 appearances across all competitions for the remainder of the season.

Ndlovu allegedly agreed to an agreement in principle with Mamelodi Sundowns to join them at the end of the season before the start of the following season.

During the first half of the season, he failed to find consistency and was sent off for his first professional red card in August, when he was sent off for a studs-up tackle on Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana.

His difficulties coincided with those of Maritzburg United, who finished second lowest in the league standings after going through three managers throughout the domestic season. Consequently, the club was obliged to participate in the promotion play-offs, in which Ndlovu scored once to guarantee that they retained their top-flight position..

On the 12th of June, Ndlovu revealed that he has signed a three-year contract with the Orlando Pirates soccer team. As soon as he made the announcement, he explained to the media that he had never signed a contract with Sundowns and that the reason he chose Pirates was because the club’s style of play was more in line with what he was capable of.
